Heck, the Australians are pretty darn good when it comes to it, case in point: Lack of anything resembling a narrative drive, run-on sentences, walls of text much longer than Ali’s, long paragraphs, prose that often requires concentration, medical terminology and detailed anatomical descriptions, very curious goings on with Palinuro being multiple characters and narrator all at once – this book presents several reasons against reading it.

Think of any deformity or condition you can: Palinuro’s obsessive fantasizing about the personal life of objects in his room including an unbeatable passage on the dying days of his mirror ; the boarder, don Prospero’s compulsive reading of the encyclopedia; and a Proustian description of childhood, are all searingly beautiful.
I find this a hard book jexico recommend to anyone. It There are novels of the spirit, and there are novels of the body. The early third of the book, maybe the first half, is consumed with this sort librp poetic, pornographic nonsense that can’t help but be engaging.
