Compared to current historical romances, The Windflower may seem old-fashioned, overly florid, or too dramatic. The writing is superb, the characters courageous, heartwarming and very special; the descriptions of the environs vivid; the metaphors numerous and well done; and the story a wonder to read, and re-read.
Devon was an asshole to Merry from the start because of preconceived idea that she slept with his enemy, Granville, although her behavior clearly suggests that she doesn’t know an iota about ,ondon or the male anatomy.
This book has it, for sure. He’s also a spy. When books were being discontinued it was accepted practice to rip off the front cover and throw the book away.
