In this book Tarkovsky explains the methods behind his films; and not in a technical sort of way.
After the most difficult period of my life in the last twenty-six years, I recognize that I once considered our formal higher education system to be righteous. And the more hopeless the world in the artist’s version, the more clearly perhaps must we see the ideal that stands in opposition – otherwise life becomes impossible!
