An excellent book providing insights into the Mani Ratnam way of making movies. In the interviews that cover the first films of his career, he appears to be hesitant and uncertain to a certain degree while talking of his choices as a director. But this is not a biography, it’s a Conversation.

Mani Ratnam’s body of work is any movie-loving, Chennai-based biographer’s delight. Rangan gives us almost a fan like view with his questions on how each of the best movies were crafted.
But it remains a peek only, needed more insights and longer discussions about different times of his movie making life. And I bet after reading about each movie, you would want to watch the movie again to observe the amount of detail that was actually put in each storyline.
Before reading you have to watch all maniratnam’s film to completely understand the book.
