Black ElkFeb 28, ArchtopMar 1, No, create an account now. Very guitarist who has spend thousands of hours practicing and has found his own ‘voice’ is very hard to imitate or copy.

Speed is great, if you’re drag racing, but even though I can wear a Fender extra heavy pick down to a soft round in a single day with extremely silly fast runs, I rarely use that speed, a little goes a long way in making music. Your name or email address: I don’t think there is a “toughest guitarist” to copy. For someone that loves the guys music it would probably be a pleasure. Going to see Di Meola in a couple months for my 14th wedding anniversary and can’t wait. DonfranceFeb 28, Steve Hoffman Music Forums. It has not only a great technique but combines incredible so any genre with jazz, whether flamenco, bossa, tango Probably someone like Derek Bailey or Dot Wiggin. No one could ever emulate Shawn Lane For me, I think the two toughest guitarist in the world to copy accurately would be Lindsey Buckingham and Phil Keaggy. GuildX and Atmospheric like this.

YovraMar 1, The toughest thing to learn is the harmonic language some of the advanced guys like Holdsworth or Shawn Lane or basically any jazz great, Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter etc. SirNoseDVoidFeb 28, Speed is the last thing to consider, because anything you can learn to do slow you can do insane practice to the point of doing fast.

Also, it is a matter of who you would WANT to copy. I am not an AD fan, so for me trying to copy him would be a heartless tedious endeavor.

His fingers look like a daddy long legs hovering over the strings. It isn’t just speed. Newark New Jersey, United States. On slower he can be a bit ‘hammy’ with the note bending, but that’s a matter of taste.

I can do much of what he does, but it is a chore, it is like playing Twister with my seeies. Chords took more work than lead lines for me.

John FellFeb 28, Al Di was good but he went overboard showing off with the speed trills. Wish he had done more. GuildXMar 1, Took me years to turn that around.
